Types of website. Static vs Dynamic Website.

There are various types of website, depending upon its use. Basically, website is a collection of web pages that contain information, data or multimedia content.

For example, if you have garments shops and you want to expand your business on the internet, you’ll need an e-commerce website.

Basic Website Types

Now, so many of you would be asking about, what is static and dynamic website and which one would be the best for me. Let’s have a look.

Static Website

A static website contains Web pages with fixed content. It is delivered to users exactly as stored. Static web pages display the same information for all the users.  It is directly connected to the server.

These are less interactive. For example, Blogs or any information website.

Dynamic Website

A dynamic website can contain web pages which are user-friendly. The user may interact with those pages.

At a basic level, a dynamic website can give the website owner the ability to simply update and add new content to the site which brings more people to the website. It is connected with a database server and then to our main server.

For example, E-commerce websites or online business websites.

Now, let’s have a look at their advantages and disadvantages. It will give you a better idea about them.

Advantages of a static website:

  • Very quick to develop
  • Inexpensive development
  • Inexpensive to host

Disadvantages of a static website:

  • Web development skills are required in order to update the website.
  • Just for informational purpose
  • Content can be outdated.

Advantages of a dynamic website:

  • A highly functional website.
  • Very easy to update.
  • More than one user can develop/work on the site.

Disadvantages of a dynamic website:

  • Takes longer to develop.
  • Costs more to host.
  • More costly to develop.
