How to compress or resize a passport size photo

I need to upload this passport size photo and signatures to some websites and I don’t know how to compress passport size photos.
Hey, can you please edit this photo for me? I’m not able to upload this, as it doesn’t meet the required specifications.
Being a Photoshop user I receive such messages frequently. Believe me, resizing or compressing photos doesn’t require any technical skillset. You can do that on your own, within a minute, and without downloading any software.

You can use Microsoft Office Lens, Camscanner, click a photo of your photo or simply scan using a physical scanner. No matter what method you use, the ratio of height and width of the image will remain the same.
If you are using any application, just make sure you save your photo into a valid image format. This is the most common problem that people save the scanned image in pdf format and can’t edit them later.

1.  Open your image in Microsoft Paint

Just in case you don’t know how to open paint, press the windows key and type paint in the search bar.

2. Click the resize icon

Click the resize icon, a small tab will popup. Select the pixels option and make sure ‘Maintain aspect ratio ‘ is checked.

3. Input the desired size for the image.

Just input the required values. In case your dimensions mismatch by some pixels, then you can input them manually. In that case, uncheck the ‘Maintain aspect ratio ‘ option. Now save the image and you will get the resized image with a smaller file size.

Bonus point: What is aspect ratio of an image?

Aspect ratio is the ratio of height and width of an image or video. If you don’t want your image to be stretched or shrunk, then you should maintain the aspect ratio. Generally, the softwares are capable enough to calculate themselves and you don’t need to do the math.
